Student Shack – Troubleshooting & Maintenance Guide
If you experience any issues in your Student Shack property, please report them through our maintenance portal on the website. Our team will respond as quickly as possible.
Locked Out
If you are locked out of your house or bedroom, report it via our website and we will respond within 24 hours. There is an £18 charge per key, and an out-of-hours call-out charge applies at weekends and evenings.
Leaks
If you notice a leak from the roof, pipes, or elsewhere, use buckets, pans, or towels to collect any water and report it through our website. Our maintenance team or a roofer will attend as soon as possible. Please note, roof repairs can only be carried out when it is safe to inspect.
Heating & Hot Water
If your heating or hot water is not working, report the problem via our website and we will arrange for a technician to attend within 24 hours.
Power & Electrical Issues
For issues with electricity or electrical faults, report them through our website. A technician will attend within 24 hours. If there is a wider power outage in your area, you can check the National Grid Power Cut Map
Gas Leak
If you smell gas in the property, contact the gas board immediately on 0800 111 999 and follow their advice. Afterwards, report the issue through our website so we can update our records.
Blocked Drains or Showers
Report blocked drains or showers via our website. A technician will attend during working hours.
Break-in / Burglary
If your property has been broken into, report it to the police first, then inform us via our website. We will respond within 24 hours.
WiFi Issues
In most properties, tenants are responsible for setting up WiFi. If your WiFi is provided by Student Shack, report the problem via our website and we will contact you during working hours.
Other Non-urgent Issues
For all other non-urgent problems, please report them through the maintenance portal on the Student Shack website
